This page will guide you on how to mount a Teltonika Vehicle Telematics device properly, which is an important procedure to allow the device to function correctly and effectively.
Embedded below is a short video showing the general steps to install Teltonika Vehicle Telematics devices. The device in the video is an FM3622, but these steps can also be applied to most other devices.
Note: Devices like the FMT100 and FMB0XY series devices (FMB001, FMB002, FMB003, FMB010, FMB020, FMC001) have their own special simplified installation process, so this video does not apply to them.
Tools and items needed for installation
Video timestamp 0:13
The tools and items needed to install a device are:
- Pliers
- Multimeter
- Tool Set
- Fasteners (e.g. zip-ties)
- Quick wire splicing clips
- SIM card
Open device casing to connect the internal battery and insert SIM card.
Video timestamp 0:25
Teltonika devices come with the internal backup battery disconnected (unless specially ordered), so before installation, you must open the device and connect the battery. While the device casing is open, insert the SIM card you will use with your device.
Step-by-step instructions on how to open your device can be found in your device's wiki page, in the First Start section.

Disassemble interior trim to find fuse box, power cable.
Video timestamp 2:21
Unless your device has a special installation method, the device will have to be connected to wires inside the dashboard. Use the multimeter to find the main power wire by testing wires until the multimeter reads around 12-13 V.
Then, locate a chassis ground point where the device Ground wire should be connected.
Optionally, you can also locate the Ignition wire by checking for voltage changes of various wires when turning the ignition on/off.
Connect power cable, ground cable, optional ignition wire.
Video timestamp 3:38
When the power wire is located, use a wire clip to connect the appropriate input from the device to the power wire. If you want to connect the ignition wire, use another wire clip to connect it in a similar way.
Afterward, connect the ground wire to the chassis ground point.
Thread external GNSS and GPRS antennas (if needed according to device model).
Video timestamp 5:18
If your device uses external antennas, thread them through the dashboard and fasten them in place. The external GNSS antenna receiver should be as close to the windshield as possible, obstructed by the least amount of metal. Likewise, devices with internal antennas should be also placed as close to the windshield as possible.
Check device functionality and reassemble dashboard.
Video timestamp 5:18
After connecting all the necessary connections to the device, check to see if the device is turning on and the LEDs are blinking. Both LEDs (Status and Navigate indicators) should eventually both blink once every second. This indicates that the device is working and has acquired a GPS fix.
Fasten device inside dashboard, connect antennas and cables.
Video timestamp 6:00
When you've decided on the installation spot for the device, fasten it using the fasteners, connect the antennas, and other cables.
There are also Mounting Recommendations mentioned in the First Start guide for every Teltonika device. For example:
