1. Introduction to EU Data Act

According to Regulation (EU) 2023/2854, Article 3, users of connected products and related services must be provided with transparent information on how data is generated, accessed, and shared.

In particular, Article 3 requires manufacturers and service providers to inform users, before they purchase or use a product, about:

  • what data will be generated,
  • how the data can be accessed,
  • how the user may share the data with third parties, and
  • any applicable restrictions.

This statement explains how Teltonika Telematics complies with these obligations.

2. Our Obligations under the Data Act

In line with Regulation (EU) 2023/2854, we confirm:

  • We will device, FOTA WEB or TachoSync data to compete against you or to obtain unfair advantages.
  • We will not impose restrictions preventing you from accessing or transferring your data.
  • We will clearly inform you what data categories are generated and how they can be accessed.
  • We will provide interoperable interfaces (e.g., APIs, data export functions) for effective data portability.

3. Sharing Data with Third Parties

Under Article 3 of the EU Data Act, you have the right to decide whether and how your data is shared with third parties. Teltonika Telematics fully supports this principle.

3.1. Your Right to Share Data

  • You may instruct us to make your data directly available to a third party of your choice.
  • We will not restrict or block this transfer.
  • We will not make it conditional on additional fees or unfair contract terms.

3.2. Safeguards

  • We apply appropriate measures to protect:
  • Trade secrets (ensuring sensitive business information is not exposed beyond what is necessary).
  • Security and privacy (preventing unauthorized access or misuse of shared data).
  • These safeguards will not be misused to deny or limit your right to share data.


4. Devices and related services

4.1. What Data is Generated by Teltonika Telematics Devices

Our telematics devices may generate the following categories of data:

  • Vehicle operation data – ignition status, speed, acceleration, braking, fuel level, odometer readings ant etc..
  • Location and movement data – GPS position, routes, geofencing information, trip history etc..
  • Driver behaviour data – harsh braking/acceleration, idling, eco-driving parameters etc..
  • Device and system data – connectivity status, error codes, firmware information, sensor readings from connected accessories (e.g., temperature, door sensors, CAN bus) etc..

All devices' generated data is described under every device's Data sending parameters list, for example, FMB910 Data Sending Parameters ID

This data supports product functionality and customer fleet operations, and does not extend beyond the intended purpose.

4.1.1. Who and how Can Access the Telematics Devices Data

  • You, the customer, have the right to access all data generated by your Teltonika devices.
  • Data is provided in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format (Data Sending Protocol)
  • Data is accessible in real time as data is sent to your configured server.

4.2. What Data is Generated by the Teltonika Telematics FOTA WEB platform

FOTA WEB is our remote device management platform, used to configure, update, and monitor devices. It may generate or process the following data:

  • Device data – IMEI, firmware information, model type
  • Vehicle data - VIN number, vehicle information
  • Update status - logs of successful/failed updates, timestamps.

All the connected Telematics device generated and to the FOTA WEB transmitted data can be found FOTA WEB data

4.2.1. Who and how Can Access the FOTA WEB Data

  • You, the customer, have the right to access all data generated by your Teltonika devices.
  • Data is provided in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Data is accessible through:

4.3. What Data is Generated by the Teltonika Telematics TachoSync platform

The related service generates the following categories of data:

  • Tachograph file data – vehicle unit and driver card.
  • Compliance reports - e.g., driving/rest time, infringements.
  • Download history - logs of successful/failed downloads, timestamps.

4.3.1. Who and how Can Access the Data

  • You, the customer, have the right to access all data generated by your Teltonika devices.
  • Data is provided in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Data is accessible through:
    • APIs (real-time access/integration)
    • TachoSync dashboards
    • Exports/reports (CSV, XML)
