Updating your device via Wialon

Prerequisites for updates via gurtam/wialon:

Fota application

Open TCP port

Open link: device - server

Firmware matching to your branch version.

FM36.Ver.01.11.ZZ.Rev.## -> FM36.Ver.01.11.ZZ2.Rev.##2

FM36.Ver.01.10.ZZ.Rev.## -> FM36.Ver.01.10.ZZ2.Rev.##2

FM36.Ver.01.09.ZZ.Rev.## -> FM36.Ver.01.09.ZZ2.Rev.##2

FM36.Ver.01.08.ZZ.Rev.## -> FM36.Ver.01.08.ZZ2.Rev.##2

NOTE: If the firmware does not match the branch version (this applies to older devices) then the configuration will be deleted from the device. And it will have to be configured with SMS commands or with a PC via USB.

Adding the commands to the platform.

Select a unit, right click it and open properties dialog

NOTE: Make sure that the device is online, this can be seen by the status of the green circle:

After you have opened the properties, navigate to Commands subsection and click + symbol to add new commands.

All new commands are added in the same way and in total there are 4 commands related to the firmware update, they are displayed in the image below.

Each command has to be added individually. Instructions provide for each command below.

Command to get currently uploaded firmware list.

·        Name the command

·        Select channel: Virtual

·        Select command type: (get_fw_list)

Command to send the firmware file to Gurtam server.

·        Name the command

·        Select channel: Virtual

·        Select command type: (send_fw)

Uncheck the field “without parameters” and in the path to firmware file link your firmware file.

Note: You can also leave the checkbox "no parameters", in this case You will need to specify the firmware file after clicking on the " OK " button.

Command to initiate the firmware update in the device from Gurtam server.

·        Name the command

·        Select channel: TCP

·        Select command type: (fw_update)

To update your device first you have to upload the firmware to the Gurtam server.

Click on the arrow button and choose command to send firmware.

In the pop-up window select the command and click ok.

If firmware already exists in your Gurtam servers then you will get the window as follows, if not you will receive the notification about the upload of the firmware.

You can check what firmwares you have uploaded by choosing the command Get FW list at the step “2”.

To initiate the update of the firmware

Should chose Update FW command.

Click on the arrow button and choose command to Update firmware.

You have to enter the name of the firmware. And enter your APN details.

Once you click ok, firmware update begins. You can check the status by chosing the FW status command.

Configuration of new devices FMB series through Wialon:

New devices of the FMBXXX series can also send a configuration file and download it from the device using the commands: get_cfg, send_cfg

Command to get the CFG file to Gurtam server from FMBXXX device.

·        Name the command

·        Select channel: TCP

·        Select command type: (get_cfg)

To get configuration file from your device.

Click on the arrow button and choose command to get CFG.

In the pop-up window select the command and click Next:

Enter Wialon IP address, port and your APN:

Note: If you are not using an APN username/password, enter one space.

To download the configuration file sent from the device, you need to connect to the Disketta application:

http://apps.wialon.com/

You will find the configuration file in the following way:

To send configuration file from Wialon server to FMB device.

Click on the arrow button and choose command to send CFG.

In the pop-up window select the command and click Next:

Enter Wialon IP address, port and your APN

Select the configuration file you want to send to the device and click OK:
