The following two fields are available when creating or editing a device group: "Firmware (optional)" and "Configuration (optional)".
Device groups are used to organize devices and automate device updates.

These fields allow you to standardize the Firmware or configuration of a device when adding it to a group.
1 Step: Create a Device Group

If FW or configuration is selected in these fields, FOTA will automatically create a task for the device to update the FW and/or configuration to the FW and/or configuration specified in the "Firmware" and "Configuration" fields when the device is added to the group
To create a device group, you must enter a group name, select a company, and press the '''Create''' button.

If the FW or configuration of an existing group is changed, FOTA will automatically create tasks for all devices in the group to update the FW and/or configuration

If you want to assign the required update files to the group, you must select the '''''Create Smart Group''''' checkbox and then create the group.
Supported update files:
* Firmware (.e.xim) for FT and FMx platform devices
* Firmware bundle (.tpack) for FT platform devices
* Configuration files for FT and FMx platform devices
The Device Group Create and Edit function allows you to select files for the assigned FT and FMx platform devices.
Task creation rules:
* Assigning new files to a Smart Group cancels all previous pending tasks of the same type.
* Changing the files assigned to a Smart Group cancels all previous pending tasks of the same type.
* Firmware and configuration files can be assigned to a group for each platform. Once files are assigned, update tasks are generated for all devices in the group.
* Firmware and configuration files can be assigned or changed for a group on a per-platform basis. Once files are assigned or changed, update tasks are generated for all devices in the group.

Device Groups

Device Groups - allows you to manage devices based on their configuration (APN, SIM card, different data from FM), use scenario, firmware upgrade, etc.

Under Device Groups menu you can create new groups. Once a group is created you can add devices to that particular group. This can be done via Device Move action.

Once a group has been created and certain number of devices have been assigned to the group, you can filter them in Devices tab to create certain tasks for only that group.
