TachoSync Credit System

Introduction

TachoSync operates on a simple, usage-based credit system. You purchase credits, and they are automatically deducted each month for your active vehicle trackers.

How to Get Credits:

  • Credits can be purchased directly from Teltonika. Please contact your sales representative for pricing and placing an order.

Key Principles

Monthly Credit Reservation

  • One credit per month is reserved for each active Teltonika tracker in your fleet.
  • These reserved credits are deducted from your account on the last day of each calendar month.

Handling Inactive Trackers

  • If a tracker is deactivated during a month, one credit is still reserved for it for that current month.
  • Credits will no longer be reserved for that tracker in future months, as long as it remains inactive.

Rolling Expiry Date (Credit Renewal)

  • All purchased credits are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
  • Most importantly, if you purchase new credits, the expiry date of your entire existing credit balance is extended to match the one-year expiry of the new purchase. This ensures your credits remain valid as long as you are an active customer.

Example

Let's examine the operations of a logistics company over the course of a year:

  • Fleet: 100 vehicles, 95 of which are actively using TachoSync
  • January 1st, 2025: The company purchases 1,200 credits. These credits expire on January 1, 2026.
  • Monthly Usage: Each month, 95 credits are reserved for the 95 active vehicles.
  • Monthly Deduction: On the last day of each month (e.g., January 31st, February 28th, etc.), the 95 reserved credits are deducted from the account balance.
Credit Balance Over Time:
Date Action Credit Calculation Remaining Balance
Jan 1, 2025 Purchase 1,200 credits 1,200
Jan 31, 2025 Deduct January credits 1,200 - 95 = 1,105
Feb 28, 2025 Deduct February credits 1,105 - 95 = 1,010
...
...
...
...
Dec 31, 2025 Deduct December credits 1,200 - (95 x 12) = 60

Scenario A: No New Purchase

On January 1st, 2026, the remaining 60 credits expire, and the account balance falls to zero.

Scenario B: New Purchase Made

If the company buys more credits on, for example, December 15, 2025, the entire remaining balance (including the 60 old credits) inherits the new one-year expiry date, protecting their investment.

Good to Know

  • The credit balance acts as a "wallet." Each active tracker costs one "token" from this wallet per month.
  • A fairly designed system that only uses credits for vehicles that are actively reporting data.
  • The rolling expiry feature prevents credit waste and rewards consistent partnership with Teltonika.
